The students have been working hard and learning about the period of the Holocaust. Take some time to look over their comments on the poems that deal with the Holocaust. |
Blog Assignment:
- Pick one of the four assigned poems to compare with the novel that we are reading in class (Number the Stars). Read the poem analytically, by carefully reading into the figurative language that the poet used, and trying to find the underlying meaning. Do you find that many Jews had similar views, frustrations, and emotions towards the "relocation?" Look for patterns of rhythm and rhyme in the poem. Did the author use a "code" to express their true emotions? Why do you think so, and how does it compare to our story? Post your comment under the poem that you chose to analyze.
- When you have finished posting your comment, read through your classmates' comments (all 4 poems), and add to their discussion. Please remember to be respectful as you leave comments on each other's posts.
